MONTEVIDEO -- Wendell Duane Froland, 75, of Montevideo died Saturday at Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation is this afternoon with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with prayer service at 6:45 p.m.
He was born Aug. 4, 1933, in Clarkfield to Olaf and Blanche (Christensen) Froland. He graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1951.
On Oct. 25, 1952, he married Rachel Larson in Clarkfield. They lived in Clarkfield until moving to Montevideo in 1957. He worked at French Glass in Montevideo for 50 years. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and was a Sunday school teacher. He was a member of the Montevideo Fire Department for 24 years, serving as treasurer. He was a member of the Lion's Club and served as its president. He was a member of the Minnesota Valley Antique Farm Power and Machinery Association. He was a campground host at Itasca State Park for 10 years.
He is survived by his wife; four children: Carolyn (and Nick) Wolff of Cyrus, Cheryl Froland of Bloomington, Cathy (and Jim) Wilson of New London, and Chris (and Lee) Johnson of Montevideo; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers: Archie Froland of Clarkfield, Ronald Froland of Granite Falls and Darrel Froland of Littleton, Colo.; and two sisters: Donna Olson of Granite Falls and Janice Nelson of Luverne.
He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter and a sister.
