West Central Minn. remains in flash flood watch, warning issued for Crow River areas
WILLMAR -- A flash flood watch remains in effect for much of central and southern Minnesota, including Alexandria, St. Cloud, Willmar, Hutchinson and the Twin Cities metro area.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the South Fork of the Crow River below Mayer and at Delano and for the Crow Rive at Rockford.
The Weather Service expects thunderstorms this evening that will bring torrential rainfall. The rain may come at rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. The ground is nearly saturated from previous rains, leading to rapid runoff and flash flooding.
The new rainfall amounts could be up to 4 inches.
Citizens are urged to stay tuned to weather or local radio for more information. Drivers are urged never to drive into flooded roadways. Remember, turn around, don't drown.
