West central Minnesota in flood watch
WILLMAR -- Much of west central Minnesota is under a flood watch until tonight.
The National Weather Service in Chanhassen includes Kandiyohi, Meeker, Renville, Stearns, Chippewa, Lac qui Parle, Pope, Swift and Yellow Medicine counties in the watch area.
A total of 1 to 1½ inches of rain is expected through this afternoon. Runoff could cause ponding of water, street flooding or the rising of smaller streams.
A flood watch means there is potential for flooding based on the current weather forecast. People living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action if flooding develops.

In addition, a low pressure area moving from Nebraska may include more heavy rain and thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service. The rain could turn to snow on Tuesday evening, especially for an area west of Willmar and Morris.
