West Central Tribune to host annual community garage sale Saturday
WILLMAR — The West Central Tribune will host its annual communitywide garage sale from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Willmar Civic Center.
All proceeds will support the Tribune’s Newspapers in Education program at area schools.
This year’s garage sale brings together 106 vendors and will occupy both arenas at the civic center. The vendor space has already been sold out, according to Nate Schueller, district manager with the Tribune’s circulation department, which organizes the annual event.
Between 2,000 and 3,000 people attend the garage sale each year, he said. “You can hit 100 different garage sales at one time.”
Vendors pay a $35 fee to have a booth. For attendees, admission is a $1 donation to the NIE program.
Through Newspapers in Education, about 2,400 copies of the Tribune are provided free of charge every Tuesday and Wednesday during the school year to area school districts that participate in the program. NIE helps teach students about current events and the media, using their local newspaper as a learning tool.
The program is supported by the West Central Tribune entirely through fundraising and donations.
