WILLMAR -- The Westwind Estates Third Addition housing project proposed by the Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership of Slayton will be considered by the Willmar City Council during the 7 p.m. meeting on Tuesday at the Municipal Utilities Building, 700 Litchfield Ave. S.W.
The partnership received approval from the Willmar Planning Commission on Jan. 9 for a conditional use permit for a planned unit development of 28 twin homes and six single-family homes located in southwest Willmar.
Neighboring homeowners say the Westwind development is not consistent with nearby single-family homes.
The Planning Commission's decision on the conditional use permit is reported in the minutes of the commission's Jan. 9 meeting. If the council approves the commission's minutes under the consent agenda, the commission's decision will be approved.
However, a council member is allowed to request that the minutes of the Planning Commission -- or the minutes of other city committees and commissions approved or accepted by the council -- be pulled from the consent agenda for further discussion, according to Bruce Peterson, director of planning and development services.
In related business, the council will consider the preliminary plat of Westwind Estates Third Addition.
In other business, the council will hear Mayor Les Heitke's State of the City Message and will take comments from the public during the open forum.
In other business, the council will receive reports from the Finance Committee, the Public Works/Safety Committee and the Community Development Committee.
The council will also consider the final plat of Serbus Addition and the final plat of Landmark Business Park, and will consider an eminent domain resolution.
