Wilferd Kolden Dec. 15, 1943 - Oct. 30, 2008
MORRIS -- Wilferd "Willie" Ronald Kolden, 64, of Remer, formerly of Morris, died Oct. 30 in the Chippewa National Forest while hunting deer near his home.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Kongsvinger Lutheran Church in rural Donnelly with burial in the church cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Morris American Legion, VFW and AmVets.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Pedersen Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and for one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born Dec. 15, 1943, in Morris to Helmer and Fern (Johnson) Kolden. He grew up and attended school in Morris. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1964 and returned to Morris where he worked for Firestone. He moved to Seattle in 1966 and worked for Boeing. He returned to Morris in 1970 and working for Morris Seal Coat. He later purchased the sanitation business in Benson, which he ran for a few years before moving to the Twin Cities and working as a machinist. He was a long-standing member of AA.
He is survived by four sons: Chad Kolden of Seattle, Josh Kolden of Fort Worth, Texas, Arik Kolden and Matthew Kolden, both of Sheridan, Wyo.; three grandchildren; siblings: Marjarie (and Willard) Farnick of Casa Grande, Ariz., Diane (and Larry) Klatt of Big Lake and Russell (and Connie) Kolden of Mound.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one infant sister.
