Willard Baldus Sept.15, 1919 - Sept. 8, 2009
MONTEVIDEO -- Willard Harris Baldus, 89, of rural Montevideo died Tuesday at his home.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Watson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 6 p.m.
He was born Sept. 15, 1919, in Story City, Iowa to Walter and Ida (Leininger) Baldus. He graduated from high school in Austin.
He married Genevieve Dalen on Oct. 5, 1941, in rural Watson. They lived for several years in the Montevideo area, Oakland area and again in Montevideo before moving to Owatonna in 1950. They moved back to the Watson/Montevideo area in 1994. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church near Watson and served as church treasurer. He was a member of the Watson Lions Club and, while in Owatonna, was a member of the Eagles, Elks, was involved with Civil Defense and the Owatonna Diving Club. He worked as a truck driver and maintenance man and was a Watkins, Inc. representative for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife; four children: Caryle (and Bruce) Clifford of Watson, Donna (and Lee) Dale of Colorado, Rodney Baldus (and special friend Dawn Christie) of Owatonna and Gayle (and Kenneth) Snow Jr., all of Owatonna; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one brother: Orville Baldus of Owatonna.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
