Williamson announces bid for Kandiyohi County board seat
WILLMAR - Donnel Williamson, of rural Spicer, officially announced today he will run for District 4 Commissioner of the Kandiyohi County Board.
The seat is currently held by Dennis Peterson, who is not running for reelection this fall.
Williamson, 37, made his announcement just minutes after the Commissioners voted on a new redistricting map that keeps Irving Township, where Williamson resides, in District 4. Several of the proposals under consideration would have moved Irving Township to District 5.
"Now that we know where the district lines are at, the campaigning can begin," said Williamson in a press release. "We can start discussing the issues facing the county."
At least two other individuals, Roger Imdieke of New London and Mike O'Brien of Spicer, have said they intend to run for the District 4 seat.
Filing for office begins May 22.
