ST. CLOUD -- The Willmar Cardinals upended No. 2 seed Sartell 3-2 on Saturday night and will advance to the boys Section 6A championship game Thursday back at Torrey Arena.

No. 3 Willmar (16-8-3) will meet No. 5 Alexandria (11-15-1) at 7 p.m. at the MAC.

Willmar bolted to a 2-0 lead in the first two minutes on goals by Liam Johnston and Grant Schow but Landon Peterson's goal in the second period turned out to be the game-winner as the Sabres (17-9-1) battled back.

In another strong performance, Cardinal goalie Christian Yrttimaa stopped 29 of 31 Sartell shots.

Litchfield/DC hockey advances to finals

ST. PETER -- Hutchinson scored the game's first two goals but Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato ran the board scoring four times to oust the No. 2 seed Saturday 4-2 and advance to the boys Section 3A title game.

The Dragons (16-10-1) will meet New Ulm, which ousted Marshall, at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Gustavus Adolphus.
