Allie Stalboerger had a hat trick and Kenzie Novak a pair of goals and two assists to lead the Stars, who went to 3-1-1 in the CLC.

"They're fast and move the puck well," said Willmar coach Ross Dahl. "They're very skilled. They have most of their team back and are certainly one of the best teams in the conference."

The Stars outshot the Cardinals 34-16.

Kasey Nyberg earned the shutout for River Lakes, making 16 stops.

Jessica Lohrman, busy as usual this season, made 27 stops in the Willmar net.

Willmar had many good chances on Nyberg, but she turned away open shots by Ashley Hutton, Chelsey Wierschem, Chelsey Bielhartz and Krista Hanson.

"We played a strong second period, we really battled," said Dahl, "but we just can't finish (scoring chances)."
