Willmar brush site to open Saturday

WILLMAR -- The city of Willmar brush disposal and compost site will open at 9 a.m. today. The site is located 3 miles west of Willmar on State Highway 40, 1 mile south on County Road 116 (75th Street Southwest) and one-half mile west.

Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. The site is open for city of Willmar residents only. Absolutely no lumber or garbage of any kind will be accepted. No firewood may be removed.

The site will accept leaves, grass clippings and garden clippings only. Residents should separate leaves, grass and garden materials from brush and branches. No boxes, plastic bags or plastic of any type may be left at the site.

Finished compost material is available for general public use. Mechanical loading of compost is prohibited.

The site will be closed May 28 for Memorial Day, July 4 for Independence Day and Sept. 3 for Labor Day. No other days will be substituted for these holidays. Questions regarding brush disposal or compost will be taken at the Public Works Office at 320-235-4252.
