OVERVIEW

The numbers are up with 35 boys in grades 7-12 practicing; 13 of them are returning letterwinners. Five veterans were lost to graduation, including state qualifiers Ross Swartz and Reid Olson. Diver Bennett Woltjer is a returning state qualifier; Mason Kluver and Kyle Rozendaal are both two-time state qualifiers. Rozendahl also is All-CLC and All-State in backstroke. Other state qualifiers are Michael McLain, Ben Fuglestad and Nick Aaker. The team should be solid at the first two spots in individual events, but there's lot of room for last year's JV swimmers and newcomers to advance into No. 3 spots or to fill out varsity "B" relays.

FROM THE COACH

"Last year's CLC champion Sartell graduated a lot of seniors, so the CLC picture is wide open. Brainerd and Alexandria will be the teams to beat, I think, in the conference. In Section 3A, Fergus Falls returns a solid section team, led by All America and multiple-time state champion Mike Hurley. Hutchinson and Melrose/Sauk Centre will be tough as well. We hope to be competitive in all the CLC duals and in Section 3A, but we need to find some additional depth to go with our returning state swimmers and diver."
