Willmar City Council to debate taproom licensing Monday
WILLMAR — An ordinance allowing brewer taprooms in Willmar will be taken up by the Willmar City Council on Monday.
There are no breweries or brew pubs in Willmar — yet. But if someone does decide to open one in town, the establishment of an ordinance would create a taproom licensing category that would allow the beer to be sold to patrons and consumed on the premises.
The city currently restricts on-sale liquor licenses to hotel and restaurants.
The Willmar Planning Commission voted last week to direct city staff to draft a zoning amendment allowing brewer taprooms to set up shop in the city’s central business district or general business district with a conditional use permit.
City Council members also will debate a revision of the city’s dangerous weapons ordinance that would add bows and arrows as a dangerous weapon.
