Willmar City Council to meet in regular session Monday

WILLMAR — Two public hearings are on the agenda Monday night for the regular meeting of the Willmar City Council.

A hearing to amend city ordinance to give police and the courts better tools for dealing with dangerous animals is scheduled for 7:02 p.m.

A hearing at 7:03 p.m. will consider a proposed ordinance to enumerate the duties of the city attorney, which had not previously been stated in ordinance.

Among items from the Public Works/Safety Committee will be a recommendation to the full council to purchase a $179,424 lift truck and two-person aerial bucket. Taxes and licensing will bring the total cost close to the $192,937 amount that is budgeted in the 2013 capital improvement program. The new unit will replace a 17-year-old truck that has more than 4,000 hours on it.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. Monday in the council chambers at the Willmar Municipal Utilities building, 700 Litchfield Ave. S.W.
