WILLMAR — Rudy Donner and Corinne Hable have been named Kandiyohi County's Outstanding Senior Man and Woman for 2013.

Donner, from Willmar, and Hable, from Lake Lillian, were honored during the Senior Day Ceremony Thursday at the Kandiyohi County Fair.

Donner volunteers as the backroom assistant at the Willmar Area Food Shelf, and his nominator said Donner is "not afraid of hard work" and is willing to work additional hours. His nominator added that Donner "truly cares about the people the Willmar Area Food Shelf is serving."

Donner also delivers Meals on Wheels and has volunteered with S.O.W.E.R.S., an organization that fixes up Christian camps. He has also volunteered with the Let's Go Fishing program and helps serve the community meals at First Baptist Church in Willmar.

In 2012, Donner received the WCCO and Minnesota Food Share Good Neighbor Award.

Hable, the outstanding senior woman, volunteers as the secretary for Lake Lillian Civic and Commerce and is also on the public relations committee for that organization, planning numerous events, including Lake Lillian Fun Days, Civic and Commerce yearly banquet, the Lake Lillian Christmas tour of homes and garden tours.

She is a hospice volunteer at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, and works in the Home Activity Building at the fair and judges the fair talent contest.

She volunteers to help edit and write the Lake Lillian News, has served on the Lake Lillian Library Board and actively volunteers with the Red Cross Blood Drive in Lake Lillian. She has also volunteered hundreds of hours to United Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian, for which her nominator said "her contributions have been absolutely crucial to the vitality of the congregation."

Hable said she was "absolutely speechless" by the award.

"I want to thank everyone for their lovely letters to nominate me," she said. "I absolutely appreciate this and will always treasure this."

Jim Buisman and Tom and Marlys Gustafson, all of Willmar, received life membership awards from the Kandiyohi County Fair Board, and the Wayne Hebrink family and Dan and Kim Lippert family, all of rural Willmar, also received Century Farm Awards.
