Willmar man pleads guilty to drug charge

WILLMAR -- Joey Gene Meyer, 50, of Willmar, pleaded guilty Tuesday to an amended charge of second-degree drug sale for selling 13 grams of methamphetamine to an informant and agent for the CEE-VI Drug Task Force.

As part of a plea agreement reached in Kandiyohi County District Court, the charge was was reduc-ed from fi-rst deg-ree, and an another fi-rst-degree count will be dismissed. Meyer will be sentenced, likely to 41 months in prison, on Oct. 4.

The charges were filed after a confidential informant for the drug task force made two meth purchases from Meyer on Aug. 28, 2009. Both deals were completed at a Willmar apartment complex. The first purchase was 6.5 grams of meth and the second was 3.3 grams of meth. On Sept. 17, a task force agent purchased 3.2 grams of meth from Meyer.

The drugs were tested and weighed by the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
