Willmar, Meeker County law investigating lawn tractor theft
WILLMAR -- The Willmar Police Department and Meeker County Sheriff's office are investigating the theft of a John Deere lawn tractor, utility trailer and garden sprayer.
According to a news release from Meeker County Sheriff Jeff Norlin, deputies from his office responded on Tuesday afternoon to a tip that the stolen property, valued at $9,100, was located in Forest City Township.
The landowner informed deputies that one of his hired hands had discovered the missing property hidden behind a grove of trees. The man had called the local John Deere dealership with the serial number of the lawn tractor. In turn, the dealership contacted Willmar Police because the lawn tractor was listed as stolen. The property was recovered and is in the Meeker County impound. The property was originally reported stolen on July 26.
