Willmar, Minn., City Council to meet Monday night
WILLMAR -- The Willmar City Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the chambers at the Willmar Municipal Utilities Building, 700 Litchfield Ave. S.W.
The council will receive a presentation on the United Way from Renee Nolting, executive director of the United Way of West Central Minnesota.
The council will hold a hearing on a zoning ordinance amendment that would follow changes made in state statute regarding the destruction or damage of a nonconforming structure. City staff recommends the council adopt the ordinance.
The council will receive the report of the Aug. 13 Finance Committee meeting. The committee is recommending the council reallocate $55,000 in unspent salaries resulting from two employee vacancies to buy bullet-proof vests and rifles.
The council will also receive the report from the Aug. 16 Community Development Committee meeting.
In other business, the council will consider setting a hearing to assess unpaid weed and grass mowing costs on 17 properties, and will consider setting a hearing to assess the unpaid cost of removing garbage at two properties.
