Willmar, Minn., driver with diabetic problem crashes car into First Street building
WILLMAR -- A Danube man was treated at the scene of a motor vehicle accident around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday where a vehicle crashed into a building.
According to a news release from Willmar Police Sgt. Daniel Erickson, officers were called to 2630 First St. S. and found a car completely inside the south portion of the building. The driver, Robert Knight Blanchard, 56, of Danube, was standing outside.
Blanchard had suffered from a medical diabetic problem and had apparently been southbound on First Street when his car veered off the roadway and into the doors of the building.
He was treated at the scene but refused further treatment and was released from the scene. No charges are anticipated at this time.
The car was towed from the building.
The police department was assisted by the fire department, ambulance service, city building inspector, municipal utilities personnel, the State Patrol and Ed's Service Center.
