Willmar, Minn., gas prices spike 35 cents in just hours

WILLMAR -- Minnesota gas prices skyrocketed past $4 per gallon Wednesday afternoon, with several gas stations in Willmar hitting $4.19 per gallon.

The state average was $3.85 Wednesday morning, according to GasBuddy.com. As of 4 p.m. Wednesday, MinnesotaGasPrices.com was showing SuperAmerica, Walt's, Little Dukes and Shell on 1st Street South had already reached $4.19 per gallon.

Within the last month, Minnesota has seen gas prices increase 30 cents, in addition to the 35 cent increase today. According to GasBuddy.com, the national average is currently $3.60 per gallon, an average Minnesota was already above before Wednesday's increase.

Numerous media outlets statewide were reporting gas prices above $4.
