According to a news release from Willmar Police Chief David Wyffels, the investigation into the man's death seeks to determine if he died from the impact of jumping off the overpass on the east side of Willmar or the impact of a vehicle that struck him a short time later.

The name of the man has not been released by law enforcement officials.

The man landed in the northbound traffic lane of Highway 23/71 and was struck by a northbound vehicle. The Willmar police are investigating due to the uncertainty of jurisdictional boundaries. Officials have determined the death occurred about 50 feet outside of city limits on the east side of the city.
