Unconditional bail was set at $10,000. His next appearance is March 14 in Kandiyohi County District Court.

According to the complaint, Willmar police officers were called around 5 p.m. Saturday to the store where they found several store employees standing near Derungs at one of the entrances. Derungs allegedly told the officer that he’d come to the store intending to steal items and take them to the pawn shop to sell for cash.

He also allegedly admitted to stealing a Dyson vacuum from the store earlier in the day.

A store employee observed Derungs with a vacuum cleaner in his cart earlier in the day and said Derungs left the store without paying for the item. Store officials said they stopped Derungs with two computers and a bottle of cough syrup outside of the store. The value of the items was estimated at $1,271.64.

Derungs was arrested and allegedly apologized for his actions, saying he’d only taken the items because he didn’t have a job.
