
Willmar, Minn., man in truck-train crash in critical condition
RAYMOND -- Anthony Vaneps, 66, of Willmar, remains in critical condition this afternoon at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Vaneps was airlifted to HCMC from Rice Memorial Hospital, where he was taken by Raymond Ambulance after a truck he was driving was struck Wednesday morning by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train near Raymond.
According to Kandiyohi County Sheriff Dan Hartog, the crash was reported around 10:35 a.m. Wednesday at a private driveway crossing on the east edge of Raymond. Vaneps was ejected from the 1973 International tandem-wheeled truck when it was struck by the westbound train.
The train was traveling at approximately 40 mph at the time of the collision.
