Willmar, Minn., practitioner becomes certified medical examiner

WILLMAR — Nurse Practitioner Jeffery Enstad, of Affiliated Community Medical Centers, is now a certified medical examiner on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners. Enstad is the first medical examiner in west central Minnesota to become certified.

The registry requires medical examiners to participate in required training, pass a certification test, and register on the registry system to become a certified medical examiner. Continued training and re-certification are required going forward.

The certification means that he can provide medical examinations to commercial motor vehicle drivers. Beginning May 21, 2014, all commercial motor vehicle drivers are required to obtain physical examinations by a certified medical examiner.

The National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners is a federal program that establishes requirements for health care professionals that perform physical qualification examinations for commercial motor vehicle drivers. The registry web site is accessible to carriers, drivers, enforcement officials, and the public.
