Willmar, Minn., Rep. Sawatzky appointed to transportation policy conference committee
ST. PAUL -- Rep. Mary Sawatzky was appointed to serve on the omnibus transportation policy conference committee that could be put to work if the House and Senate pass different versions of the transportation bill.
The committee has the job of negotiating differences to reach a compromise.
The revised bill would then go back to the House and Senate for another vote.
If both bodies pass the bill in this form, it is sent to the governor for his approval or disapproval. If one or both bodies reject the report, it goes back to the conference committee for further consideration.
"I look forward to working with my colleagues to find common ground, compromise, and bring a good bill back to the House and Senate, and then on to Governor Dayton," said Sawatzky, DFL-Willmar.
Sawatzky is only the third freshmen House member to be appointed to a conference committee this year.
