Willmar, Minn., School Board to meet twice today

WILLMAR -- The Willmar School Board will meet twice today, first in a special meeting one hour from now.

A special meeting is set for noon regarding the termination of the high school's head volleyball coach's contract.

A regular board workshop meeting is set for 4:30 p.m.

Both meetings will be held in the board room on the first floor of the Willmar Education and Arts Center, 611 Fifth St. S.W.

The noon meeting is scheduled to be closed to discuss DeBoer's termination. The board voted to not renew coach Terrin DeBoer's contract in November. She said at the time that she planned to appeal the board's decision.

A report on the closed meeting where the board did not renew the contract indicated that DeBoer exceeded expectations in her knowledge of the game but did not meet expectations in other areas, including interpersonal relationships.

The regular workshop meeting at 4:30 p.m. will focus on the district's technology plan and technology issues in individual school buildings.
