Willmar, Minn., tweens identified as hospital-area tire slashers
WILLMAR — Three Willmar boys, ages 10, 12 and 13, have admitted involvement in the rash of tire slashing incidents during the weekend of Jan. 19-20 in the area of Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
The charges against the boys put closure to the investigation of 22 separate property damage cases in the incident.
According to Police Chief David Wyffels, the investigation was aided by information gathered from the public after police posted a video surveillance image on Facebook.
Acting on the leads from citizens, the Willmar Police Gang Enforcement team officers confirmed the identity of the suspects in the photos and then secured confessions from two of the three suspects, Wyffels said.
The case has been forwarded to the Kandiyohi County Attorney’s office. The Willmar Police Department was assisted by Rice Hospital in this investigation.
