The Willmar School Board will consider the purchase agreement when it meets at 4:30 p.m. Monday in the board room on the first floor of the Willmar Education and Arts Center.

The Washington building was closed nearly two years ago in a restructuring of the district. Two previous purchase orders have been approved by the board, but each of those sales fell through because of contingencies set by the potential buyers. This sale has no contingencies attached, and a closing date of April 22 is planned, according to the purchase agreement.

Also on the agenda for Monday is a 5-cent increase in lunch prices for grades K-12. According to information from the school district, the U.S. Department of Agriculture is requiring the increase. New prices would be $1.80 for grades K-5 and $1.95 for grades 6-12.

The board will vote on an agreement for sharing the services of Food Service Director Annette Derouin among the Willmar, Montevideo and New London-Spicer districts.

The agenda includes a list of capital improvement projects for the next fiscal year, which begins July 1. A major project on the list is at Kennedy Elementary, where the district plans to replace the tennis courts with parking and to develop a safe area for students.

Discussion topics at the meeting including state legislative action and the operating levy referendum planned for this fall.

The board listens to public comments related to items on the agenda at the beginning of the meeting. Those who want to comment on issues not on the agenda may do so at the end of the meeting.

Board meetings are shown live on Willmar local cable access channel 18 and are recorded for later showings on channel 19.
