Willmar School Board meets Monday
WILLMAR -- The Willmar School Board will meet at 4:30 p.m. Monday in the board room on the first floor of the Willmar Education and Arts Center.
The agenda includes adopting a preliminary 2011 property tax levy and will consider renewing Superintendent Jerry Kjergaard's contract through the 2013-14 school year.
The preliminary levy is estimated at $6.9 million, an increase of 1.28 percent over the 2010 levy. If an operating levy is approved by the voters in November, the levy would be higher when the board approves a final amount in December.
The local property tax levy includes four parts: $2.2 million in vote-approved referendums, $1.8 million for the general fund, $384,000 for community education and $2.6 million for debt service.
The board will listen to public comments related to items on the agenda at the beginning of the meeting. Those who want to comment on issues that are not on Monday's agenda may do so at the end of the meeting.
Board meetings are shown live on Willmar local cable access channel 18 and are shown on channel 19 at noon Tuesday through Thursday and at 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
