Willmar School Board plans special meeting Monday to approve prelim. levy

WILLMAR -- The property tax levy for the Willmar School District could drop about 5 percent next year.

The School Board will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Monday in the board room on the first floor of the Willmar Education and Arts Center, 611 Fifth St. S.W. All board meetings are open to the public.

According to information distributed to the board and posted on the district website, the local property tax levy in the school district will decrease from $7.1 million this year to $6.8 million to be paid in 2013, a decrease of 5.18 percent.

The board will also conduct a data retreat to discuss recent state test scores and the achievement gaps they revealed in the district. The retreat, which is also open to the public, will be from 3:30 to 6 p.m. in the WEAC Rehearsal Hall.
