Willmar School officials plant to adopt '09-10 budget at their meeting scheduled for tonight
WILLMAR -- The Willmar School Board will meet at 4:30 p.m. today in the board room on the first floor of the Willmar Education and Arts Center.
The board will listen to public comments related to items on the agenda at the beginning of the meeting. Those who want to comment on issues that are not on today's agenda may do so at the end of the meeting. The meeting can be seen live on local cable television on WRAC channel 18. The agenda includes adoption of a budget for the 2009-2010 school year. The budget estimates $41.15 million in expenditures in the general fund, which pays for most day-to-day operations for the district. The budget for the past school year was about $3 million more.
The board is scheduled to take action on a number of other issues:
- Hiring a consultant to oversee testing of construction materials for the classroom addition to Roosevelt Elementary.
- Adopting art and music curriculum standards.
- Reducing non-certified staff positions.
- Adopting a variety of new or revised policies, including those governing transfers between the district's two elementary attendance areas.
Discussion items on the agenda include the introduction of several other new policies and a discussion of the school day start and end times for the next school year.
