The Cardinals (9-1, 12-3) held the Spartans (1-9, 2-13) to just 13 points in the first half.

"Especially the first half, we were able to put a lot of pressure on the ball," said Willmar coach Brad Atchison. "It really got us going. Our defense was (a one-on-one) after the trap and they really got out to put pressure on the guards."

Meanwhile, the Cardinals' offense didn't hold anything back. From the field, Willmar shot nearly 50 percent (26 for 53) and from three-point range, the Cardinals were 7 of 11. Kelsey Evans sank six and finished with a game-high 24 points.

The Cardinals didn't let up much in the second half, outscoring Rocori, which has now lost seven straight, 32-22.

Jena Thompson added 15 points, seven steals and three blocked shots for Willmar.

Hannah Smith chipped in nine points and eight rebounds.
