Willmar tennis team falls to Alexandria

WILLMAR -- Playing in blustery weather conditions, the Willmar girls tennis team couldn't muster a win after 1-singles and 2-singles and lost 5-2 to Alexandria on Tuesday.

"The extreme wind conditions didn't help anyone's play," said Cardinal head coach Erika Kath. "It was tough. We had some fantastic matches considering the wind."

Willmar dropped to 3-2 in the Central Lake Conference and 4-6 overall, while Alexandria improved to 4-2 in the CLC and 10-4 overall.

Willmar's Xiaodan Yu won at 1-singles and Gabie Bierbaum won at 2-singles. But Alexandria split the singles matches and swept doubles.
