Willmar will be part of a statewide gathering to discuss ending poverty
WILLMAR -- Willmar will be host to one of five meetings Thursday evening called a Statewide Gathering to End Poverty by 2020.
The meeting is open to the public. It will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services Building, 2200 23rd St. N.E., Willmar. The statewide event is sponsored by A Minnesota Without Poverty.
The evening, centered around the theme "Let's Talk About Enough," will include several speakers, an art exhibit and artistic performances to portray the concept of enough.
The event will close with table conservations about the issue of poverty and having enough. Some of the questions to be addressed in the conversations will include the difference between needs and desires, what people would be willing to give up to provide enough for all and whether providing enough for all is politically or economically sustainable.
