OVERVIEW

With 14 lettermen back, including last season's top three scorers, this squad has the ingredients to move into the upper half of 10-team Central Lakes Conference. Losses among 10 letterwinners included front-line defenseman Jake Tone and All-CLC first-team Paul Schrupp, plus goalies Keifer Dahle (4-4-0) and Ben Leitch (9-6-0).

Five seniors -- Gabe Amon, Zach Chester, Liam Johnston, Landon Peterson and Grant Schow -- are each starting their third season on the varsity. Goaltending will be new with junior Derek Baker and exchange student Christian Yrtrimma competing for playing time, or perhaps splitting time, at least early.

Coach Dan Tollefson believes team has ability to move into top third of the conference.

Postseason in the 11-team Section 6A offers another challenge: The Cardinals will have to climb over CLC rivals Alexandria, Little Falls, Fergus Falls and Sartell to get that coveted state trip, last done in 1947.
