Willmar's fast start tips Tigers

HUTCHINSON -- The Willmar Cardinals game out both barrels blazing leading to a 5-2 non-conference victory over the Hutchinson Tigers in boys hockey on Saturday evening.

The Cardinals shelled Hutchinson goalie Kellyn Bruns the first 17 minutes. Of the 20 shots on target, three found an opening for scores by Trey Tollefson, Hunter Schneider and Cam Swenson.

The Tigers were able to get two shots on Derek Baker on the other end. The Willmar netminder would end up with 35 saves as the Tigers found some offense in the last two frames.

Two Tiger goals, both on powerplays, were offset by goals by Matt Eddy and Hunter Mottinger.

Defenseman Chris Odens assisted on two Willmar scores.
