Willmar's Jordan Smith named Indians' Minor League Player of the Week

Willmar native Jordan Smith was named the Cleveland Indians' Minor League Player of the Week for July 9-14.

It's the second time this season Smith has earned the honor, also winning it May 28-June 3.

Smith hit .571 with a home run and eight RBIs in the week while posting a 1.349 OPS.

On the season, Smith is batting .316 with five home runs, 16 doubles, 42 RBIs with an .825 OPS.

His .316 average ranks second in the Midwest League.

Smith was the Indians' 9th round pick in the 2011 MLB draft out of St. Cloud State.

He played for the Willmar Stingers in 2010.
