Willmar's Smith named to Indians' Organization All-Star Team

Willmar native Jordan Smith was named to the Cleveland Indians' Organization All-Stars by Minor League Baseball earlier this month. He was one of three outfielders selected. Smith, who played for the Indians' Class-A affiliate Lake County Captains in 2012, batted .316 with 9 home runs and 74 RBIs. He slugged .453 with a .367 on-base percentage.

Smith was also named the Captains' MVP after helping lead them to the semifinal round of the Midwest League playoffs.

"Smith is a very good defender at the corner position. He can handle right field extremely well," said Ross Atkins, the Indians' vice president of player development. "His progress with his bat has been extremely encouraging, and if the power comes, he'll be a Major League player."
