A wind chill advisory remains in effect until noon today across west central Minnesota.

The National Weather Service in Chanhassen says very cold air and strong winds will combine to generate dangerous wind chills of 25 below to 45 below zero across much of Minnesota.

These wind chills can result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken when venturing outdoors. One homeless woman in Minneapolis died overnight while walking to a homeless shelter.

When venturing outside, even for short periods of time, make sure to wear a hat and gloves, along with several layers of clothing.

Southeast winds will increase through this morning across west central Minnesota. While actual air temperatures will climb, wind chill reading will remain between 30 and 40 below zero, before climbing to 15 to 25 below this afternoon.

An Alberta clipper system will bring some light snow to part of the upper Midwest this afternoon and tonight. Snow accumulations in general should be under an inch.

A second clipper system will bring some light snow Sunday and Sunday night. Snow accumulation will be around an inch or two.

Residents should expect continued frigid conditions through the weekend. Temperatures will warm noticeably into the upper teens to mid 20s by Tuesday and continue right into Thursday.
