Wind advisory issued for west central Minnesota and eastern SD
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for much of west central Minnesota and eastern South Dakota today.
The advisory area is mainly along and southwest of a line from Alexandria through Willmar and on to St. Peter and Owatonna. The advisory includes the Interstate 90 corridor of southern Minnesota and the Interstate 29 corridor in eastern South Dakota.
Northwest winds sustained at 30 to 35 mph with gusts reaching 45 will occur across the advisory area today. The winds will decrease significantly this evening.
The strong winds today are in the wake of a low pressure storm system moving across the Great Lakes.
The wind advisory remains in effect until 4 p.m. this afternoon. The strong winds can make potential difficult driving, especially for high profile vehicles. Drivers are urged to use extra caution today.
