Wind chill warning forces schools to delay or cancel classes today
WILLMAR – A wind chill of 35 below zero this morning has resulted in many west central Minnesota schools delaying the start of classes.
Several districts, including Willmar and New London-Spicer, have cancelled classes.
The decision comes as the entire region is under a wind chill warning until noon today.
According to the National Weather Service, a combination of very cold air and strong winds will create dangerously low wind chill values of near 40 below zero.
Exposed skin can freeze in as little as 5-10 minutes in those conditions.
