Winter weather advisory is in effect now for west central Minnesota

WILLMAR – Much of west central Minnesota, including Kandiyohi County, is now under a winter weather advisory that will continue until midnight.

According to the National Weather Service the combination of strong winds, blowing snow and falling temperatures will lead to hazardous travel conditions.

The forecast calls for blowing snow and a chance of light snow today with falling temperatures that will plummet to 8 degrees by 5 p.m. today.

With the strong northwest winds of 30 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph, the wind chill will be as low as minus 14 during the day and minus 26 tonight.

The cold, windy weather is expected to continue tomorrow with a high of 1 degree and 15-20 mph northwest winds that will result in a wind chill of minus 29.
