Winter weather advisory issued

A winter weather advisory is in effect from noon today until 6 a.m. Thursday.

The National Weather Service said light snow will expand across west and south central Minnesota this morning and spread eastward to east central Minnesota by this afternoon. The snow will continue tonight into early Thursday, tapering off Thursday morning.

Accumulations of 3 to 6 inches of snow are forecast, with isolated higher totals.

Visibility may be low at times. Travel also could be difficult on snow-covered roads.

The advisory includes the counties of Pope, Stearns, Swift, Chippewa, Kandiyohi, Meeker and Renville.
