Winter weather advisory issued for Monday night and Tuesday morning

A winter weather advisory has been issued for much of central and south Minnesota for tonight and Tuesday. This advisory includes Willmar and the west central Minnesota region.

The winter weather advisory is in effect from 9 p.m. this evening to 9 a.m. Tuesday. It also includes east central, south central and southeastern Minnesota, including Rochester, St. Cloud, Albert Lea, Morris, and Mankato, the National Weather Service said.

For the rest of today will bring partly cloudy skies, with highs around 5 above. Southwest winds 5 mph increasing to south 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight will not as cold with a chance of snow in the evening. Then snow after midnight, with snow accumulation around 3 inches. Lows zero to 5 above zero. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph.

Tuesday will be not as cold with cloudy skies. Snow likely on Tuesday morning, then a chance of light snow in the afternoon. Snow accumulation around 1 inch.

Storm total snow accumulation of 3 to 4 inches. Highs around 20. Southwest winds 5 to 15 mph. Chance of snow 70 percent.
