Winter weather advisory until 3 p.m., blowing snow reducing visibility
WILLMAR — A winter weather advisory remains in effect until 3 p.m. today for much of west central, central and southeastern Minnesota.
The National Weather Service expects light snow to continue through noon, with the blowing snow continuing through the afternoon.
Northwest winds will blow from 20 to 35 mph, with gusts to 40 mph, this afternoon.
The snow and wind will significantly reduce visibilities this afternoon, especially in open areas.
The forecast for Willmar includes a high temperature of 21 degrees, with temps falling to 14 degrees by 5 p.m. The winds will continue tonight, with a low temperature of 5 below and winds from 15 to 20 mph creating wind chills of 14 below.
There will not be a break in the weather; the local forecast for Wednesday includes the possibility of snow mixing with freezing rain in the late afternoon, plus west-northwest winds at 10 to 15 mph and gusts to 25 mph.
