The event, hosted by the White House Project, Willmar Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, La Gran America and the Minneapolis Foundation, will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Adult Basic Education Center, 1234 Kandiyohi Ave. SW, Willmar.

Her presentation is called, "Taking your seat at the table."

A similar event last month in St. Cloud drew nearly 100 people, mostly immigrants and new Americans, inspired by Ray's path to leadership after moving to Minnesota from Columbia.

Sen. Ray was elected to the Minnesota Senate in 2006 and serves as the first and only Latina in that position. With a background in social work, she is an advocate for families and early childhood education.

Ray is an alum of the White House Project's "Vote, Run, Lead" political leadership program, a national, nonpartisan organization that works to advance women's leadership.

For more information contact Catherine Gray, Associate Midwest Director of the White House Project, at 612-240-1135.
