Women's basketball: Henrickson’s Jayhawks upset South Carolina
The Kansas Jayhawks, coached by Willmar native Bonnie Henrickson, earned a spot in the NCAA Sweet 16 with a 75-69 upset win over South Carolina on Monday in Boulder, Colo.
The No. 12 seed Jayhawks got 27 points from Monica Engelman in the victory of fourth-seeded South Carolina. The Jayhawks moved on to Norfolk, Va., where they will play the winner of Tuesday’s game between Notre Dame and Iowa in the regional semifinals Sunday.
Engelman’s previous career best was 26 points set last month against TCU.
