Women's basketball: Minn. West knocks off Ridgewater

WORTHINGTON — After trailing by double digits much of the game, Ridgewater made a strong run at Minnesota West but ran out of steam and lost 72-52 in a MCAC South Division game on Wednesday.

The Warriors, now 1-1 in the league and 11-4 overall, trailed by 16 points in the second half but were able to shave the lead to four points with seven minutes to play.

“Then (Minnesota West) hit three or four 3-pointers and we broke down,” said Ridgewater head coach Carrie Ogdahl. “They’re a good team and they can really shoot it.”

Raeann Sorenson led the Warriors with13 points and Cameo McNeley had 10 points and 7 rebounds. Jessica Kalenberg had 9 points, Courtney Kramer had 8 and Lynsey Runke had 7 points and 5 rebounds.

Only five players scored for Minnesota West, with Tiffany Gehl and Brittany Hulstein both scoring 20. Katey Granstra had 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Hulstein also had 9 boards, 3 assists and 3 steals.

The Warriors play next at home against Riverland at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Ridgewater gym.
