COON RAPIDS — It’s a sort of must-win situation for the Ridgewater women’s basketball team on Saturday.

The Warriors fell to Anoka-Ramsey’s hot free throw shooting, 71-58, on Wednesday, setting up a final regular-season game at home against Fergus Falls.

The Warriors currently hold down the third position in the MCAC Southern Division, with the top four earning spots in the region tournament March 1-2.

But the division’s fourth–place team — Western Wisconsin Tech was No.4 entering Wednesday’s games — must contend with non-conference Fox Valley (Wis.) in a play-in game first.

If the Warriors can win Saturday, they lock up the No. 3 spot and won’t have to bother with the play-in game.

On Wednesday, Anoka-Ramsey hit 23 of 24 foul shots. The Warriors held top scorer Olivia Antilla to just two field goals but she hit 15 of 16 free throws and finished with 19 points.

A-R’s 20-point edge — Ridgewater made just 3 of 13 — from the foul line was the difference. The Warriors scored two more baskets and A-R was 0-of-17 from 3-point range.

Ridgewater’s Jessie Kalenberg had 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.

Courtney Kramer and Raeann Sorenson both scored 12 points, and Sorenson matched Kalenberg’s 8 rebounds. Sorenson had 4 assists and 2 steals.

The Warriors take on Fergus Falls at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Ridgewater College gym.
