Women's basketball: Warriors bury Central Lakes in second half

WILLMAR — The Warriors led by one, 35-34, at intermission and then outpointed Central Lakes College 42-19 in the second half on Saturday afternoon  to take a 77-53 cross-division win at the college field house.

Ridgewater outshot the Raiders (1-6) 43.8 percent to 26.7 percent the final 20 minutes.

Sophomore post Cameo McNeley led four Warriors in double figures with 21 points. She sank 7 of 11 shots from the field and 7 of 8 at the line, where the home team was 21 of 29 overall (72 percent).

Courtney Kramer added 15 points and Kristin Phillipp and Raeann Sorenson 12 each.

Phillipp points all came long range on 4 of 6 behind the ring.  Sorenson canned 8 of 10 at the free-throw stripe.

Lynsey Runke’s energetic floor game led to 8 points, 4 rebounds 4 assists and 3 steals. Jessica Kelenberg had similar stats, including 8 points.

Coach Carrie Odgahl rotated player every few minutes from a 3-player bench as the Warriors (6-2) made it two straight with the win over Fond du Lac, Cloquet on Friday night.

The Brainerd college was led by Taalyr Egeness with 16 points and Lindsay Monson with 13 points and 6 rebounds.

The Ridgewater teams travel north to Brainerd on Friday for the two-day Central Lakes Tournament.
